does anyone have experience with keeping megalechis thoracata in water around 18'c?
also will they spawn like cories with a cool waterchange?

Normally I keep my four at ~22C, but I did turn the garage 5x2x2's heaters down to 18C last autumn, when all that was left in there were the catfish and my Ilyodon xantusi. They were not as active, as you might expect, but they were happy enough like this for ~1 month (so not a great test case).

I think I then came very close to losing them all, after I forgot to turn the heater back on after a water change, I arrived back home from work to find them upside down on the tank floor and barely breathing... The water had dropped to ~8C over ~24 hours! I slowly added hot water (no cold mix) into the FX5 output to get back to 18C gradually and everyone pulled through thankfully.
Dreaming of a full-on 5x2x2 Zaire River rapids biotope...
