Sonodontis

Post by kyrianou »

Today with waking up I have noticed that I have lost both of my Sonodontis Eupterus due to Ich (I think). The reason I think they had this is due to white marks on the top fin and underneath, and also have only purchased them a week ago, since then they have had quite alot of stress with having to travel 45 mins in a car home then when they got back I cracked the tank while cleaning it so another one was brought the day after, so another change for them there. The water temp has been hard to keep at one level, but now is at 86.c.
The reason I am writing is that I have a Black Shark and 3 Platies in the same tank and am worried that I will lose them too. Do I need to change all of the water, or is the Ich Just stress in the fish and not the water.
I have also read that Black Sharks need to be kept with fish of their own size, Do I now have to buy another larger fish for him.

Any Advice would be grateful, as I am only a novice.

Thank you.

It's most likely due to the condition of the fish, as I have had fish that broke out in ich when newly-introduced while tankmates were unscathed.
As for black sharks, they are fairly large aggressive fish that need lots of swimming room. I would not keep them with platies for long if I were you.
