Re: Gulpers mating
Can you see any signs that the female is gravid?

Re: Gulpers mating
Are those eggs they keep stirring up or sand?

Re: Gulpers mating
Gulpers can be round, just because the´ve eaten. Therefore, a thick female soes noty mean that much. But a female full witheggs, that is gravid, could produce offspring after a succesfull mating and laying of fertilized eggs

Re:
Victor, the very fact that you haven't seen yours do this might mean that it is a behavior which is not simply aggression or normal, non-sexual interaction, and thus it could very well be a mating behavior, or at least a pre-mating courtship behavior.Viktor Jarikov wrote:What makes you think this may be a mating behavior?
It is interesting though, I've got three ~5"-ers and have never seen them do anything like this.

Cheers, Eric

I seen the male grab the females fin and rub tails. I'll try to record it next time.

Re: Re:
Thanks.
Excellent deductive thinking, detective! On a more serious note, gulpers appear to (almost?) not exhibit any intra-species aggression.bekateen wrote:... the very fact that you haven't seen yours do this might mean that it is a behavior which is not simply aggression or normal, non-sexual interaction, and thus it could very well be a mating behavior, or at least a pre-mating courtship behavior. From the video, it seems very programmed.
