L397 traping female!

Post by AmazonTank »

I thought these l397 were to small to breed since they are all at around 3" TL.
I saw the male cleaning the cave for a few days and now he's totally trapping a female.
If I see eggs should I rehome the the L204 plecos in there and let the l397 raise the babies in the same tank or should I take out the eggs and put in the egg tumbler then raise separately?
I'm still planning on rehomming the l204 I thought I had more time.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Good luck! As to what to do next, myself, I would leave eggs and wigglers with dad until most of their yolk is gone, then move the fry to a net or basket in the parents' tank.

Cheers, Eric

Thanks so much for your message! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I'm thinking I might part ways with the L204 plecos now that I realize they are so hard to breed and so readily available. I do love there look very much! Does anyone think L204 would sneak into a cave to eat yellow chubby eggs?
