White L333???

Post by stuby »

Over the last couple of months, I have noticed one of my L333's loosing color. Didn't think much of it at first when I noticed it.... But now is to the point that he has no color except his eyes and a tiny bit on his back. I didn't think to take pictures before to document it.... It's just the one and seems healthy other than his color...... anyone else ever have this happen or have any insight to what is going on?

Take care,
Chuck

Yes, I think @Acanthicus also photographed a similar specimen if memory serves.

It would be good to add this to the species profile to record. Let me know if you’d be willing to do this.

There is a CSG article by @The.Dark.One on related colour in plecos. Let me know if that’s of interest and I will dig it out.

Yes, very similar to your Hemiancistrus guahiborum! I was sorry to hear what happened.

Yes, I would be interested in submitting him for the profile. Let me know what you need from me. Also, if it isn't too much trouble, I am interested in reading the article that The.Dark.One did.

Take care,
Chuck

Hi Jools,

I can provide you with a good dozen of different phenotypes of L 333, thin and broad lines, white and yellow, albino and normal, but unfortunately I haven't come across a leucistic or simply white specimen yet. But I have pictures of a L 174 that changed.

As it happens, it's in the first issue of the journal that is free to access (you pay for newer ones). Have a look here:
