Glyptothorax from India

Post by Erwin »

Recently there was an import of Indian fishes at Aq. Glaser. One of the species was called Glyptothorax housei, indeed an Indian species. But is it correctly identified?

As originally described, G. housei lacks pale banding, so I do not think that the identification is correct.
This is a member of the G. trilineatus group, and without knowing where exactly in India it came from, it's difficult to identify it accurately.
Possibly G. madraspatanum, if it came from south India.

Heok Hee, I have asked Frank Schäfer meanwhile, and he told me, that these specimens came indeed from South India, probably Kerala. So your ID would match! Thank you!
