Amblydoras Hancocki growth rate?
I've had 3 - amblydoras hancocki (stoen cats) for 2 months now and they are still les than 0.5" in length. Do they grow at a slow slow rate or are they not amblydoras hancocki?
Thanks,
Scott

In the U.S. anyways, the most common catfish marketed as "Stone Cats" is Hara jerdoni
As you sure your fish is Amblydoras? If they are, they are clearly the smallest one's I have every heard of.
Hara spp. are frequently imported about this size.

I'll second that.
usually hancocki's are about 1,5-2" when imported with the occasional 2,5-3" specimens added.
And trade-ins might contain (sub)adults 4" or even 5", although I rarely saw any hancock that size.
females can and do reach 5" or so; males usually stay 1" smaller.
AFAIK maximum length is 6" or so, but I've never seen any hancocki that big.

Beersnob,
Another Doradid that has been showing up lately as talking cats is THIS.
One of the LFS in Cleveland just got a tank full of these at 1" so they are being imported. There is not much info in the Cat-ELog on them yet, but the adult size is less than 2" (5cm). Could this be your fish?
Does your fish have strongly fused caracoid plates? In Physopixis lyra these plates form a solid shield between the bottoms of the pectoral fins.
