something wrong with my tank :(
my fish have stop eating a week ago :( I have two ideas about that :).
1. before I bought a p. maccus what I was writeing about in "what is my catfish" I use just in case a medice that is based on trichlorfonian (i dont know if it will sounds like that in eanglish). I use about 1/4 of suggested by producer dose (it is really powerful medicine and it can easly kill all plecos and loaches in about 2 hours if dose is too big for them I know that becouse when I was in begining of my fish adventure I used full dose :(). This medicine (capifos - its name in polish) is also famous for killing your filtration system (all bacteries are dead about treatment) but my uaru are still young and I have to use it in 6 month long periods :] before I bought uaru I used this medicine few times and everything was ok, so my question is if it is possible that I got now high NO3 or even NO2 level (becouse uaru produce a lot of waste) and thats the reason why 1 of my uaru and my clown loaches dont want to eat? Plecos and bumblebee are really happy now becouse they have a lot of food :]. After I done treatment (I gave medicine first time with soaked in it food then I done a 30% water change and give it again and then I done 50% water change and filtrate water with active coal) fish were extremlly happy and eat like crazy so I bought this p.maccus but after 2-3 days everything started. Loaches stop eating and one of my uaru also :(. I must say that they are still very active and act normaly but they are very fussy. They get food into mouth and belch it (sometimes they eat).
2. i bring something to home with this new p.maccus but loaches are very active, dont hide and even "sleep" on their sides like always and uaru fight with his smaller dude non-stop like before but... it also dont want to eat :( so I dont think that I have any worm/or oder sickness in tank it is all becouse water but I have nobody to ask :]
And last question is about what medicine you use to cure your fish from worms ? It would be great if you write what kind of substance is based on your medicine becouse here in Poland I wont be able to buy the same medicine as you use.
TIA and sorry for not catfish subject :].

hi worton
i live in the uk, the problem is, the medicines that are available to the hobbyist here, do not work.
on intestinal worms. believe me over the years, i have tried everything and everything has failed,
the only way here to get rid of intestinalworms apparently, is to use a de-wormer for horses,
but. one needs a vetinary certificate for this, and as UK vets wont give it out without them having a fish disected, and then they charge quite a lot for this service, usually more than makes it viable
however!! (would be interested in otherpeople thoughts) i recently heard a livebearer expert
say that he uses supra snail cure to great effect,,any of you in germany know anything about this,
Also,, i have tried melaleuca alternifolia oil. did seem to shift the blighters when used in a heavy dose,, but,,,
..second time round slightly bigger dose given. lost fish..
..
the melaleuca burnt their gill rakes, and they suffacated.

hi :)
we got here in Poland few medicines that are able to cure this intestinal worms. Capifos is also use in curing dogs :] but in much bigger dose. And this which are buy for fish have little dose of priority substance (but still very deadly for plecos and loaches). Second one is use in curing humans worms :] ehum in "silent" parts of body :P. Discus keepers use one tablet for 25 galons and again this medicine is deadly for almost every fish :] only discus enjoy it :]. And the last but not least is very popular in curing humans fever it is call "polopiryna" in polish and it can be something like "polophiryne" in eanglish. "Polophiryne" is also a primary component for anti-headache medicines. I've never used it but a lot of polish aquarists used it and they say that it is very potent :P. Well it seems that we got the same problem it doesn't metter Eangland or Poland :] there is no medicine for intestinal worms :(.
