Shine a bright light through the fish from behind, the ovaries of the females will show a triangular shaped dark spot immediately above the vent (point down) males will not have such a mark.
It's easy to sex out Bettas and Gouramis from a very young age with this method.
Try it and give a reply post, I'd be interested to see if it works with the Ctenopoma as well.
I haven't tried with this particular fish but aren't they just like any other Anabantid?i guess so but im not 100% sure how to sex them
