Synodontis Eupterus biting baby oscar

Post by Poochie »

Hello everyone,

I have a little problem with my Synodontis Eupterus. He lived with a large oscar that passed away last week. He never showed any agressive behavior with oscars in the past.
I have two new baby oscars that are about 4 inches.
The syndontis keeps harassing them and has bitten one of them. I have been watching him and it's quite clear that he is going after them to bite them.
Any ideas as to whats going on in his little head?

Thanks

The catfish has lived in the tank long enough to establish a territory, and it's just showing the newcomers who's boss.

Try rearranging the decor to see if that helps.

Thank you for your reply. I don't know why I did not realize that. It never occured to me that he would do that.
I will re-arrange the tank but I don't think he will be giving up his role as ruler any time soon. He is much bigger than they are. Can I assume that this behavior will go on until the oscars can stand up for themselves?

Thanks
JoAnn
