Do any one know where does Nijssen come from? His nationality?

The same question for Isbrücker

I am studying on his taxonomy of genus corydoras into groups.

Nijssen has review 85 species of genus cory at that time and arranged them into 9 groups in 1970. 1980 Nijssen & Isbrücker review another 90 known species and arranged them into 5 groups which is consistent with the 9 ones before.

Hi Marshel,

Nijssen and Isbrücker both come from the Netherlands and work(ed) at the Zoological Museum Amsterdam (unfortunatly there is not much information on that webside). Isaac Isbrücker is still employed there whereas Han Nijssen retired.

I found that many Cory species are named by Mr. Nijssen. His contribution to Cory is really great.

FWIW, The University of Amsterdam is planning to close the museum and the fish collections from the old ZMA will be incorporated into that of the Naturalis (the Nationaal Naaturhistorisch Museum) in Leiden.

The groups that both Nijssen and Isbruecker previously used are no longer recognised althought they are often refered to by many including me.

I believe there is a review of the genera being undertaken at this time, how long before it will be published I do not know. There are several emenant Cory people involved.

But I think their effort is really useful in indentifying some similar cory species. Due to my limited knowledge, can someone tell me how I can find the full list of cory species in every group.

I have e-mailed you the Cory group listings. It consists of 5 groups and 48 species. (We now have 158 valid described species). As I have already explained this grouping has no scientific standing and in the light of the review that is being undertaken it is likely that the whole Corydoradinae family will be split into several genera.

Han Nijssen is retired, so there's no point in trying to contact him.

That is Isaäc's email address as I last know it. Wrote to him more than a year ago with no problems. You get the same email if you go to the University of Amsterdam's website.
