Giant oto info, please

Post by drpleco »

The LFS got a small shipment of fish labeled as "giant otos" and I'm thinking of picking up one (or a few). Does anyone have any info on these? I did a search here and found nothing except that someone else has a similar (same?) fish and Silurus said it was "Hypoptopoma gulare." What are the requirements of these and do they need to be in schools like regular otos? Thanks a lot!

Larry, you probably meant long lived, but I suppose they could be long loved, too! Mine was, when I had one.

Deb,
You got me, should read long lived and loved. Should add that they are less social than regular otos but does best in groups.
One of my favorite catfish, hard working and more effective algea eater than reg. otocinclus.
