I was going to post a link and say "It's well worth having" (particularly based on your username), but I found the price in the US quite expensive.

Either way, here's the link. You'll want to log in to Amazon via the links provided at the top of this forum. http://www.amazon.com/Aqualog-Loricarii ... 948&sr=8-4

I've bid on one of these and many times bid on older copies of the Catfish Altas but they're always out of reach in no time. When I realized the diversity of catfish, I should have changed my user name to 'Smallish Catfish Banana" I like a lot more than the L numbers now. A lot more..

Man! you guys are good!

I thought this one was difficult haha

Araguaia is Tupi for 'river of red macaws'

stigma is marked indeed, Ancistrus stigmaticus is correct!

Smallish catfish banana, it's up to you! :foggie:

edit: actually i'm quite disappointed, i had such fun hints in mind! this Ancistrus comes from a place called 'Espirito Sancto' which literally means, the holy spirit. i had a great cryptic hint in mind based on that :D what a shame....

Bummer! Those nice place-name clues don't come along often enough.

And I had a bit of help with this one because we did a 'stigma' fish earlier..It was the red macaw that took some serious goggling!
Previously Listed Catfish

New Fish:
a) I'm really small.
b) My name comes from a chair maker plus a fish plus a special feature found on Father Time and Santa Klaus.

Edit: Just looked at the fish list - it wasn't a 'stigma' fish, it was an 'insignis' fish!

New Fish:
a) I'm really small.
b) My name comes from a chair maker plus a fish plus a special feature found on Father Time and Santa Klaus.

New clues:
c) the area I'm from has the name of a South African Tribe but I'm from the middle of another continent.
d) My latin species name mentioned earlier also sounds like a English word that means speaking in a certain way, can refer to music, verbal reciting...
e) The chair-maker hint is not the kind of chair J. G. Stickley made.

Next fish:

1) both my names seem not "scientifically" derived
2) in other words: they are both likely to be based on native names
3) my genus name sits completely (*) in my species name (*not mixed up or anagrammed; just as it is)

Thanks Dave, nice try.
But the species name is longer than the genus name.

3) my genus name sits completely (*) in my species name (*not mixed up or anagrammed; just as it is)
4) but clue 3 goes as well when the name is read backwards
5) my type locality sounds very much like one of the main characters from a well known film (all ages) based on a German fantasy novel

6) in another (animation) film my genus name is the name for an animal. However, in the book on which that film is based my name is used for quite a different animal.

5) my type locality sounds very much like one of the main characters from a well known film (all ages) based on a German fantasy novel : indeed, Never ending story -atreyu and atreyi
6) in another (animation) film my genus name is the name for an animal. However, in the book on which that film is based my name is used for quite a different animal: Jungle book; Rama the wolf in the film, but Rama the bull in the book.

b) I'm from a family that's not on the list either.

To my surprise there are still 7 families unlisted. So for anyone who doesn't feel like checking them out, here they are:

Erethistidae/Chacidae/Scoloplacidae/Nematogenyidae/Cranoglanididae/Hypsidoridae/Horabagridae

Now let's find out which fish it is

I thought the families clue would be a give away until I checked it out - very surprising!

Much too big.

That's a better size!

I'm out the door to work again so when someone gets it, feel free to go ahead with the next fish. You'll know it's the right fish because clue three will fit perfectly! Both references in clue three are written in one line on the species page
