New fish, another easy one (I think):

A German spice, the night sky and symmetrical velvet.

Both the genera and species are already listed on the fish list, but not the same way.

Okay, maybe it was easy because I already knew the answer...

A) A German spice, the night sky and symmetrical velvet. The are the first 3 words in my 'scientific name' line of the data sheet. but in the opposite order.

B) Both the genera and species are already listed on the fish list, but not the same way. One is as part of a genera.

C) I'm spotty brown with a wide flat head and slinky body, sized to fit into most of our tanks.

D) I have no keepers, one full body picture and one somewhat textural picture, possibly from an electron microscope.

a)

probably from the Greek amphi, meaning both sides and leios, meaning smooth

Urano- the planet, sort of.
and Pheffer - pepper in German.
b) Dolichamphilius brieni and Megalodoras uranoscopus already in fish list.
c) 6.3" SL
d) cool pic but not sure if it was electron mic or not - need to check with Silurus for that.

It took me a wee while to figure out that the spice might refer to the describer rather than the fish.
But, I got there in the end..

That would be Rangifer tarandus 'Rudolf', type locale North Pole, extensive range but only once per year.

He's obviously a Chameleon - he can move his eyes independently, change colour and likes the occasional insect (larva).
