Re: what am I?
Right some clues to help you out:-
My species name used to contain part of my family name but no longer does.
My closest relative featured as catfish of the month in the month that hostage crisis of over 100 days at the residence of the Japanese ambassador in the country where the type specimen for it is from, ends after government commandos storm and capture the building, rescuing 71 hostages.
"It" being the closest relative.
It is now easy.

Synonym: Doras (Doradidae).
And the fact that both you (atm) and the fish (normally) produce "much mucus"

New fish:
My common name is used for two different fishes from the same family.
You are looking for the one that doesn't have a common name in the land of its type locality.

Sometimes people confuse me with a relative due to our patterns. But if you give me a good look, you'll see that I'm different. Bigger, broader, larger.

My first name is a combination of this place:-

and this:-

However the place has 2 possible answers, one which is correct for this species.
Another clue about the location pictured:-
You could possibly find 99.4% of my DNA in this location.

I see where you going there Marc
It is a Catfish though, I got it by selecting the random species button and then searching for clues from there, so my clues may be a bit crap.
Want another?
