those who happen to be away/too drunk to use a computer/to busy playing Santa/playing with their new Christmas presents or hiding from their relatives can have a chance to give their opinion...
Guilty of all the above :D

1- S. cf. petricola...... I am not sure if this would need a new species page....yet.
2- S. geledensis
3- S. aff. grandiops.....this one we have seen before and I think could have it's own species page
4- S. greshoffi

Regarding number 3...

The exact same photo of the exact same fish is presented in Seegers (2009) pg. 366 as Synodontis sp. aff. multipunctatus.

Probably doesn't help much, but just thought I would add that.

Well, it's obviously no bad thing to follow someone else's name - is the photo credited to Mark Smith, or is it just an identical photo of the same or an identical looking fish?

I guess that is the proper thing to do... personally I would like it to be S. aff. grandiops but we can not start contradicting without definite scientific proof.

Sorry, just revisiting this now that I've got the admin bug sorted out. Is this all dealt with or do you still need me for a "call" on anything?

I'm still uncertain as to whether #1 and #3 belong with something already in the Cat-eLog or not - I have had a look myself, but Synos not being my strongest forte, it's hard to say for sure...

I can see how this process takes quite a lot of time when it's difficult species like this...
