I can do that, but I'll try to grow them out further first.

New spawns continue! There are fresh eggs in the mop this morning!
  • Spawn #1: 19 June (discovered at 5mm SL - my guess is these are already about 1 week old)
  • Spawn #2: 01 July (discovered at 13mm SL - these are probably at least 1-2 weeks older than the fry found on 19 June)
  • Spawn #3: 01 July (discovered eggs hatching same day - the age of these eggs depends upon how long eggs incubate to hatching)
  • Spawn #4: 02 July (discovered new eggs, just laid overnight)
Cheers, Eric

Follow up information: It's now 5:40 pm here. The have continued to lay more eggs in the spawning mop and among the Java moss throughout the daylight hours.

I've witnessed a pair of fish swimming back and forth through and around the spawning mop, but I haven't actually witnessed any eggs being deposited. I see just new eggs around the mop and moss.

Cheers,
Eric

The link is now working: caught in act spawning. Take a look. The best view of their amplexus and an egg drop is between 1:30 and 2:15 in the video.

The fish continue to spawn with more eggs laid today. With this knowledge, it seems more appropriate to call this a single spawning over multiple days, rather than thinking of each day being a unique spawn.

Unfortunately, with six fish in the tank and an unknown male:female ratio, IDK if all the eggs are from a single female or multiple females.

That may be more philosophical than technical, but it seems worth considering. Thoughts?

Cheers, Eric

I was away for 3 days for the July 4th Independence Day weekend. A late night inspection tonight revealed fresh eggs (very yellow too!) under the false floor plus eggs with embryos about to hatch in the spawning mop plus several fry of obviously different sizes and ages.

Also, when I found fresh eggs last week (I think it was on July 2), I moved a few fresh eggs to a fry box to monitor. When I arrived today after the vacation weekend, there was a single hatched fry surviving and it was of significant size, about 4 - 5mm SL. At the very least, I know the eggs hatch in four days or less.
