Broken whiskers

Post by butternuts »

I just relocated my cat from a 35 gal to a 55 gal tank. It got a bit tangled in the net but it caused no damage to the fish, the net however was destroyed, I had to cut the fins free. At any rate when i put the fish in my 55 gal tank it was totally intact, no missing fins no broken whiskers. After about 5 minutes i came back to the tank to check on the fish and one of the long whiskers was broken in 2 places. I left to check the internet about what to do and when i got back the other long whisker had broke in the middle. The first whisker to break had by this time snaped off at the break closest to the fish's head. Well both whiskers are now about half as long as they used to be. Is this a bad thing? Will the whiskers grow back? I hope its not detremental to the fish's health. Iv had it for a while now and would hate to loose it....any advice would be greatly appreciated. i can post a pic when i get home if it would be helpful...

Don't worry, the barbels (whiskers) will grow back if the fish is in good health.
