im just wondering what the usual price is, because i could buy them for 4.99 each

My local shop calls them Yoyo-loach, Botia almorhae, and I think they want something around 4.99 for theirs. I don't remember exactly. I saw them at Maidenhead aquatics too, similar price IIRC. It's certainly not a silly price. http://www.trimar.co.uk asks 2.75 for theirs, and they usually keep very good prices. But then you'd pay more than a couple of quid for the shipping or travelling to cornwall...

so, do you think i could get rid of my 2 clown loaches, and get maybe 2 pakistani loaches instead?

Yes, that's probably a good replacement. The YoYo loach looks nice, and it's only going to grow to around 4".
