Unknown cat needs ID'in (please & thanky)

Post by Scorpi-O »

Someone on another site was asking for an ID of this cat.
They think it might be a Synodontis punctulatus but they aren't sure.
The pic they posted in the thread was too dark to make out most of the details, so I cranked up the gamma correction to lighten it enough to see.

For those interested, here's the original thread.

Any help would be appreciated.

biggest one I've ever seen!
the markings sure change a lot, and not a splash of yellow on it anywhere.

good thing it's not a hybrid though.

is it me, or are the rounded taillobes also fairly characteristic of Schoutedeni? they always have those, and almost any Syno I know has far more pointed taillobes......
