outbreak

Post by jewels »

i seem to have had a bacterial infection in my 3' 127litre community tropical tank. treated with sulphur 3 tabs and salt 12 teas, after 3 days water change, 3 tabs sulphur, next day 6 teas salt and tomorrow will do next water change. lost one peppered cory and red blotchy male looks improved but has developed fungal growth on head. lfs advised adding melafix as well. is this safe? any other ideas?

ammonia-0, nitite- .1, nitrates-5, pH-6.5, GH-100, KH-50. fairly fine gravel (one persistant anaerobic patch) tank mates - rasboras, forktails, barbs, silver tipped tetras and a female peppermint cat

The simple answer is that you can't upload pictures to PlanetCatfish's forum, you'll need to host it somewhere else, like ImageShack for example.

Additional information on "posting pictures" is available in the "What's my catfish" section and in the FAQ [under Help!] in the menu-bar.

PLEASE can someone help with a fungal infection round the head of one of my corys. after 2 sulphur treatments, 2 mild salt treatments, a melafix treatment and 3 water changes and gravel vacs in a week it looks no better, in fact could be a bit worse. im sure it must be miserable.

Are you sure it's fungal and not bacterial? There's a good chance that what looks like fungus and doesn't respond to fungal treatment isn't fungus, but actually a bacterial infection, in which case you'll need an antibacterial treatment. That is, of course, just a guess...
