i'd say it is either an Ancistrus sp. (L183) or Ancistrus sp. cf. hoplogenys, but both species are so simlar in appearance!!

enjoy :D

Hi!

Well L183 is often exported under the name Ancistrus hoplogenys...
I can not tell you if L183 is actually the real Ancistrus hopligenys as both comes from the Rio Negro...
Around here this fish is often refered as L59 because of the error in the Aqualog book
Cheers

Hi!
Well it really looks like the true L183 but without any catching locality it is really almost impossible to give an accruate ID as there are so many species of Ancistrus having such colour pattern.
Under what name did you buy them?
Cheers

i bought it for $14.88 Canadian dollars, at a popular aquarium in toronto canada.
it was the only pleco in the tank (with some pike fish)hiding under a driftwood...no label no price...even the staff didn't know it was there!! hehe

not L 183. spots and colour are wrong.
try L 059 and L 059a. i personally believe the white edge and non-white edges denotes two separate species.
