I think the clog ID is correct. Some male perugiae get very small spots:

Also the modified anal fin in reticulatus is not as spiked as perugiae. It just tends to get long:

The other thing is that in a settled condition, C. reticulatus is very dark and it is hard to make out the pattern. However, C. perugiae never really does this and also have blue sheen to the eyes. Neither of these things is in the description, but you get an eye for it after keeping both of them for a few years.
I am pretty content with the ID.
