Algae eaters compatible with pictus?
I currently have 4 pictus cats in a 46 gallon bowfront. We did have 4 black molly's in there but had to rehome them because we got up one morning and 2 of them had shredded tail fins. I did not want to see them killed so we took the molly's to the local lfs. I just didn't realize how much of the algae they were apparently keeping in check because it is reproducing rather quickly. Are there any algae eaters that the pictus will not torture?
Thanks
Thanks

I'd wager bristlenose plecs will probably be largely ignored and be able to hold their own. Be aware that plecs do need their own food besides just the algae in your tank, such as algae wafers.

Do bristlenose need groups? Do they prefer to be alone? I don't have driftwood so will it be ok without?

No, no, yes. I'd go for a trio, one male and two females. Make sure you feed them specifically and not rely on algae or scraps as their main diet.Struggsmom wrote:Do bristlenose need groups? Do they prefer to be alone? I don't have driftwood so will it be ok without?

Thanks. I think I am going to get some bristlenose. I just don't have room for driftwood in my decor. How often do I need to give them an algae wafer. Will the pictus leave it alone so they can eat? Those pictus are pigs and little terrors.
