I know its a bristlnose of some kind but is not 'the common brown ' picture dont really do justices its infact dark green/brown .. .. have taken it to a few importers and few trusted breeders of various plecos ... most are stumped and a few have come up with a suggestion..but none 100% on i.d ... can anyone confirm

Could it be a female Ancistrus ranunculus, just green from the "second hand water in the tank"!

Do female A. ranunculus have pale spots? I thought they didn't.

I have several female A. Ranunculus and they ceratinly don't look like this one. A. Ranunculus are pretty distinct from other ancistrus species.

Green Dragon is a colour form of the common bristlenose, so Birger's suggestion above is not at odds with what others have told you - same species, different wrapper.

I know nothing about "Ancistrus ranunculus" I just made a guess because it has such a wide head. You said it was in a "found this pleco in a 2ndhand tank" so it made it sound like it was something you acquired from someone else. You mean you have a tank with a catfish in it that you put there and don't know what it is? =))
