I unplugged it so he could get free because he seemed pretty stuck and struggling to get out. Now after that, any time he comes up to the surface for air, it's like he gets exhausted from the swimming, and he looks as though hes having a seizure (erratic swimming, vertical, upside down, in circles...) before he goes still and drops back to the bottom of the tank. It happens every time he goes for air, but when he's lying on the bottom he looks fine.
Last night when he came up for air, i scooped him in a breeding tank that hangs in the aquarium to reduce stress of transferring him to another tank all together. I also did this so no other fish will pick on him and so he has an easier time going up for air (short distance to the top). I placed some real moss and a fake plant in there to give him some cover. This morning he is still alive, and even forages a bit, but again, when he comes up for air he struggles.
I am thinking either he is injured from being stuck on the filter or maybe what caused him to get stuck in the first place was a reaction to a plant fertilizer I had just added in a few minutes prior. None of my other fish, including the other cories, seem to have been affected by it. It was pretty sudden.
Any advice on how to care for him? Or will he most likely die?
Fertilizer: Kent Freshwater Plant- Formula K-Fe Micronutrient Plant Supplement with Potassium & Iron
* note: i have since placed tights on the intake
Thanks
