Nej det finns inga forum för oss malfantaster på svenska.
So we have to be here instead :)

Va trist! Det är på samma sätt här i Finland. We only have general aquarium forums...

Sorry about the language to those who cant read it, I'll try limiting it.

I 'm from the Chesapeake, Va area, and i'm glad to find this forum to learn more about catfish. At most of the LFS in this area when I ask about what a certain fish might be, the answer I get is usually "its a catfish". So now i can learn what I'm looking at without having to ask them.

i'm from the aforementioned "land down under" :)
and as usual, i like SOUTH AMERICAN FISH.
unfortunetly due to extremely strict import laws it is difficult to get the loricariids and pimelodids i want. a common pleco does'nt cut it when you want/need a royal panaque...
you can still get a-lot of illegally smuggled fish though.

Maybe some people just like to read and learn, without actually participating in forum discussions. Personally I knew and visited this site long before I decided to join, I was a bit overwhelmed by the amassed expertise at first, didn't feel I could add much relevant knowledge.

You dont need to be registered to read, so deleting registered people with allmost no posts wouldnt really make much of a problem for the affected people...

just want to say hello! I have been a follower of Planet Catfish since before it was planet catfish- Hi Jools!

While I may not post very frequently, I will visit.

I used to live in south florida, now I am in central Fl. At one point I had 18 aquariums running, and have cared for multiple plecos and catfish. Currently I am down to 6 tanks, with only a few catfish- a gibberceps, a rhino pleco, an Asian redtail cat, a Lace syno, and several zamora wood cats. I recently lost my big Pseudodoras niger- she was 10 years old. One to many moves, I guess. I generally keep SA or asian fish, although I do have a three foot African lungfish named Spike.

Oh- Jools- although I have been out of touch for a while, I haven't forgotten you- I work with fruit bats now and last year named a Pteropus vampyrus (Malayan flying fox) after you!

Greetings from Finland! I always say it's in Scandinavia, although I guess strictly speaking it's not, the Scandinavian peninsula consists of Norway and Sweden if I remember correctly... But who cares, Scandinavia is close enough for most purposes.
I agree that it's not always that easy to write in English, but it's a lot easier than to write say in German or Swedish. I hope that native English speakers will excuse us and understand if some of the expressions we use aren't exactly correct. My biggest problem is with prepositions and I tend to get them wrong. There aren't any prepositions in Finnish language!

I'm from Redditch, West Midlands (near Birmingham for those who dont know)

apologies for not putting in a physical location in my profile, its only it is, in my case, far more appropriate to explain that i'm in my own little world, cos i never get what anyone's on about, and i always miss the point

so as much as we are all on planet catfish, the vast majority of the time, i am off on planet mand

The reason we ask for a location in your profile is to better aid posters that need help. We don't know what resources are available near you, if we don't know where you are....

Hmmm funny jsut went throught that topic and found this, as I am the lone Swiss here, there should be thousand of catfishes around here.... which sadly is not the case....

Ever heard of Lake Geneva as distribution for Hypancistrus zebra... if you do I swear I did not put any there!!!! Promise!!!

I think that in the options of the survey you have miss CENTRAL AMERICA, is not the same central america and south america,

south america start at Colombia, central america start at Panamá and finish in Guatemala and Belize..
