New 55 gallon tank set-up with happy fish!

Post by Fiskars the Whiskers »

Well, it's finally just about over! I spent 3.5 hours today putting the stand and tank together and I must say that I'm pretty happy with the results! I'm think I'm going to put a dark background behind the tank so the fish feel more secure. And I know my cords are kinda messy, but I think I'm entitled to a break after working so hard putting everything together!

The fish are all doing fine. The cories seem glad to have new playmates. The Schwartziis and Trilineatus cories have really bonded, exploring the bottom of the tank together and swimming once through midwater. Very cute! My pleco is completely excited to have his own piece of driftwood and has been happily going over it very thoroughly. My USD cat has found the perfect hiding spot and I haven't seen him since he was first put in there. Soon he will have new friends and hopefully feel very much at home.

Nice tank. Is this a VERY new tank setup? I hope the rocks, decore, filter, etc. came from a very well established tank. I'm ask becuase if not, then the tank is still going to cycle and not all the fish may not make it through the cycling period.

All of the decor from one tank is from last August and the other from probably September or October. Everything, filter included, is the same. I also added some Bio-Spira to help the filtration out a bit, too. They are the tanks I was asking about in the "New Tank Questions I and II" topics.
