DATZ spawning of S. dhonti appears to be artificial hybrid

Post by Dinyar »

The current issue of DATZ carries an article about "spawning S. dhonti". I have now seen this article and also had an opportunity to discuss it with Erwin Schraml, who has done considerable research on Tanganyika Synodontis and works closely with the editors of DATZ. Erwin's opinion is that this is not at all a case of breeding S. dhonti but another instance of the now already common case of artificial hybridization by commercial Czech breeders.

Interestingly, the article says nothing about actually breeding the fish.
