My panda cories are dying out

Post by Peter99 »

Almost all my Panda Cories are wiped out. I had one that died about 2 weeks ago, and within a week, I had 3 that died, I have only 1 panda cory left. All the cories that died had a bit of fin rot. I had added Melafix and Primafix, but it was no use. The water parameter seems good. With the weather cooling down now, the tank temp is about 78-80F, about 10F cooler than last week.

Strangely, only the Panda cories have died, I have 4 albino cories in the same tank and none of them seem to have any problems. Is there some sort of disease that Panda cories are sensitive to that the albino cories are immune to?

Thanks in advance.

Panda corys seem to be more sensitive to water conditions than some other corys. Especially under those higher temperatures, oxygen content may have fallen below their requirements. They never liked lower pH values when I kept them and seemed to be happier with frequent water changes.
