Heat DON'T GO !!!

Post by Armand Ortega »

Hi;
Acrylic Tanks holds more the Heat versus Glass Tanks ? I have to tanks with same conditions( One is Glass the other is Acrylic) and seems to me that the Acrylic keeps the water hotter. Did some one knows if Heat scapes more easy thru glass walls compare to Acrylic walls. If this is the case is there any way to insulate the glass tank for holding more the heat. They are not display tanks so don't worrie about the beauty. :twisted:
I will like to know Your Opinion. :idea:
Thanks in advance
:)

Glass has a thermal conductivity 4-5 times higher than that of acrylic.

I live in a very cold climate (night time temps in JULY reach 40 F). All my tanks are on 1/2 inch foam board year 'round, but in the winter I surround them on three sides (sides and back), as well as lay a piece over the canopies (except planted tanks).
