Hi Awol,
The "funny" reply to your question would be "Fred", as that's as good a name as any...
But I suspect you want to know what it is, not what to call it...
I can't tell what it is from those photos, because the fish is pretty distorted. [I'm not saying that I'd be able to identify it with non-distorted photos, but it would certainly not hurt anyones effort].
If you can take a photo of it in a tank instead of bag, then that would probably help a whole lot.

i have 6 of these fish. i plan on trying my hand in breeding them. right now i have them in a 6.8 ph temp 76. a 20g long tank with a power filter. they love to swim against the current. with some rocks and hiding spaces and java moss. not as shy as my bumblebees. right now from what i can tell, 3 i think are females, since they are fatter larger and have a flater rounder head, the other three seem slimmer rounder head and more elongated.
what's the going price on these things any ways?

Considering that these are probably exported for the first time out of China, there is no easy way to answer that question reasonably.what's the going price on these things any ways?
I can tell you what the going price for these are in China, but that would not be a reasonable comparison now, would it?

ive been keeping them with microglanis sp. that were said to have been caught in peru not sure on specfic type, also been keeping them with small feeder guppys and ghost shrimp. they been feeding well on black worms. the list name was also listed as a microglanis sp.
if you guys want any ill try to dig up the guys email who i got them from.

I seriously doubt they came from Peru. They wholesaler might have got them mixed up, but these are certainly Chinese origin fish.
This is, for me (and others on this forum) one of the most desirable catfish I have ever seen, it's amazing to see they are in the US.
This is a mystery worth solving - image these guys started turning up regularly at your LFS - forget l-numbers!

As Silurus says, these fish just aren't seen for sale, so a "going price" doesn't exist. I would pay around $25 each for them without blinking.AW0L wrote:what's the going price on these things any ways?
What did you pay for them, were there more?

aparently he said that they were the frist time his wholesaler got these fish in. and they were pretty hard to come by because they cant be caught in large amounts like schooling fish. i think he was given frist dibs on these fish since he buys alot fo rare fishes, and pretty much got the whole bag that came in. I got 6 of them kinda at gift price since i trade with him aquatic plants and i live near him.
his name is Wes and he runs a store that gets in pretty rare and hard to find fishes, mostly predatory. check out his ads at
click this link for his information. you can check on the forum about his sale practices, hes a very cool guy to deal with. and if you check the references and sale forum, you can see that alot of people have bought from him.
