Resealing Fish Tank.

Post by DeLBoD »

Hello .Just about to reseal a fish tank and cannot decide from reading if I should use two layers of beading or not.
One thin to start then 24 hours later a fat layer or just one fat layer from the start ,any one?
Thanks :?

Make sure all the old Silicon is removed properly, clean all areas to be resealed with Meths or similar and apply one layer, new silicon does not really like sticking to old silicon for some reason.

Ah but will the solvent not damage the silicone that is holding the glass together?
As this is a reseal not a rebuild. The silicone holding the glass is fine all round.

Meths will not harm the silicon between the panes of glass, it is just to remove any greasy finger prints etc.
