we are new here and if there is anyone there who can help us we would be grateful..
our pimelodus pictus is looking very ill. it's been in our 55 gall malawi tanks for a coupla weeks. the tank is new, about 6 weeks old. we only have 11 mbuna in the tank with it. the ph is 8, temp 26. no nitrites. nitrates not bad. we've been treating the pictus for ich for the last 6 days, and the spots have cleared us now, but the poor fish is looking bad. its eyes look cloudy and it's not swimming happily, its lolling around, and it's lost the ends of oneof its barbels. its breathing heavily...
we could transfer it to our other tank, 7.5 ph, otherwise simelar water...
but would that help, or make it worse due to the stress of moving...
can anyone help please?
help please? our pictus is ill

Hi there,
Sorry but you'll have to get the pictus out of there. PH level is to high. Same goes for your other tank.
Pictus needs South american water conditions.
If you would like a more or less similar fish then go for Synodontis multipunctatus. They fit into a Malawi environment beautifully.
Pictus won't and will never get used to those conditions.
Best of luck.
Marc
