I was under the impression the best way to ID Hemiloricaria spp. was by ventral scute patterns/counts, so a shot of its underside might help if you are still unsure.
Having said that, it looks very much like eigenmanni I have kept in the past (or what I believed to be that species).

Re: Euchilichthys guentheri?
I have a single specimen of E.guentheri I got for free from an importer as it came in as a "contaminant" with some wild caught kribs, and it looked in such poor condition the supplier was convinced it wouldn't make it. It was around 1" SL when I got it and astonishingly thin. It recovered very ...

In fairness the condition isn't that bad, the eyes still have a healthy bulge, and the split fins will heal rapidly if the water conditions are good.

I have a 850l seabray tank, the quality is really top notch, much better than aquariums have ordered from BOSS.
I think they are located in Essex.

Hello again,
Mats, you appear to have missed the external that OP is also using, when also considered, the tank has a fairly decent amount of filtration, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem, unless stocking is excessive.

Hello.
Coral sand is indeed a poor choice for the fish you are keeping, mainly since it will raise the pH and hardness of the water quite significantly, really not ideal for any south American fish such as Loricariids. I suggest you change this as quickly as possible for something inert as far as ...

You could have a go using tinypic, you don't need an account like with photobucket, it just uses a captcha system.

Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like I may be being a little overzealous with the baking scrubbing etc. from what you say Mats. Still, I figured since these pieces are all going to be siliconed in to the tank, I had better make sure they won't be a problem

Safety of collected wood
I recently purchased a 800 litre seabray tank (72x30wide x24) at a knock-down price, and am in the process of collecting wood to decorate it. I plan on fixing many branches/roots to the back and side of the tank above the water line. I intend to screw small pieces of slate to the branches using A4 ...

Sp. Rio Ucayali, not L182.
Identical to the ones I raised/bred.

I recently sold a pair I bred a few times, the male never got any more bristles than your individual, relatively "clean shaven" by ancistrus standards.

Hello.
Sorry to muddy the waters, but to me these are L152. I was in your exact situation some months back, when I received three Pseudorinelepis sp. L152, mine showed some degree of spotting which led me to wonder whether they might be P.genibarbis instead, but I was informed by several members ...

Re: ID whiptails & startlight BN
I'd guess the second one is Ancistrus sp. rio Ucayali, the younger ones are much darker and the spots appear almost silvery, with age they fade out to a dark reddish brown and the spots become less noticeable, also the red tinge on the pectoral hard rays is one identifying feature. I have a breeding ...

I'd say L24 due to the lack of spotting on the head, and the eyes, which in L25 have that hooded appearance. Looks a lot like my guy!

I have a tank with a Distichodus sexfasciatus and a D. fasciolatus along with many other bottom dwellers (various Loricariids and corys, an odd mix I know) the Distichodus don't interfere with the bottom dwellers at all, though they are slightly scrappy and territorial when it comes to other mid ...

Beautiful pictures, especially the last, that's a real inspiration for tanks. I'd absolutely love a group of chiloglanis like you have in the 1st pic, or indeed a few more euchilichthys to add to my lone little e.guentheri, very few and far between over here unfortunately.

I'd say both Panaque nigrolineatus; this fish, in my experience, can change the stripe colour pretty significantly according to age and situation. When exposed and in strong light or stressed they tend to edge towards the brighter stripes, the only other fish No.1 could be is L330, if it has a ...

Hi!!
Really found sad...housing such fish in such small tank...
They are like in Sardines' can.
I shall not encourage anyone to try this.
As a hobbist we are supposed to give the best home for our fish...obviously housing 2 25cm fish in a 60liter tank wouldn't be what I call the best..but ...

L25 breeding in 2ft tank.
