Ok I diagnosed my pictus with ich on friday. Today is sunday and one of my cats died in a powerhead accident  When I took out the powerhead the other cats kind of sunk to the bottom by the bubble bar and are breathing very hard and kind of panting? that is the best way to describe it. Pictus and sand
I am in the process of remodeling my substrate (all the better to grow plants in my dear!) and I was thinking of building a sandy playground for my catfish but I am not sure if they are the kind of cats who would enjoy is? Yeah I had a cat that was like that and I bought two more and now they hang out at the bottom and sides and stay active even during the day. They seem much happier now. Are you feeding it flakes? I would try feeding it a sinking pellet or some sinking goldfish crumbles mine seem to like those a lot!

thanks for the advice everyone! I think my friend has a much larger filter could I graft some of their filter sponge onto a plastic bit from a filter so it is the right size? I assume that will work as long as I don't let it dry out in the process? Sorry for my ignorance I am just in over my head ...
