It doesn;t matter anymore. All the pictus are dead. I put in less than 6 tsp into my whole tank just to see if they would react and they seemed fine but when I woke up they were dead. I think that I just didn;t catch the ich in time and they got stressed by all my attempted remidies and died.

ok so I have a 25 gallon tank how much salt do I add? and should I keep the temp high or will just the salt do the trick? I pretty much just need to know what to do based on the type of fish i have and the size of my tank.

ok great thanks. I also heard that salt and most ich meds are bad ideas with pictus cats because they don't have scales? is there anything I can put in there to help solve this ich problem because the cats aren't eating and I am worried.

well I was thinking that I could put a sponge over the powerhead to protect the fish since it is the only thing I have to stir the water besides the bubble bar.

soooo can I do anything or should I get the funeral supplies together?

Yeah I had a cat that was like that and I bought two more and now they hang out at the bottom and sides and stay active even during the day. They seem much happier now. Are you feeding it flakes? I would try feeding it a sinking pellet or some sinking goldfish crumbles mine seem to like those a lot!

thanks for the advice everyone! I think my friend has a much larger filter could I graft some of their filter sponge onto a plastic bit from a filter so it is the right size? yeah when i bought my filter it didn;t have one in the box so I have rigged one up since the accident so that it doesn;t happen again.

I bought two more pictus and all are getting on famously! They like to cirlce together, nose to tail. It is so cute! They seem to be very hardy and I hope they will be with me for a long time. Sadly my pleco got sucked up into my filter and was turned into a pleco smoothie.
