Hey HH, looks like there's no ZooBank LSID in the paper, I guess that resolves it.Silurus wrote: 26 May 2025, 01:38If there is no ZooBank LSID in the paper, then the name is not available anyway.

Sounds par for course for a Heteropneustes sting; been there a few times. The pain and swelling usually last a few days, but your case seems severe. Might be best to consult a doctor.

Re: Erethistes horai?
These fish are typically collected from large water bodies known as beels (surface area of several hectares), that are a result of spillage from rivers during floods. The pH in these beels generally ranges from 6.5 to 8.0. I’ve seen these fish thriving in both soft and hard water (my tank water is ...

Re: Erethistes horai?
Hey Eric, I've kept Indian Erethistes , and they all require similar care. Your tank setup looks good, but I recommend switching the sponge filter for an HOB and adding plenty of plants, as these fish like to use them as cover. I spot gravid females every monsoon among the moss but there is very ...

Re: Endemism note in CateLog profile?
Hey HH,
Are you referring to identifying hotspots and creating a database, or the tech part? If its the former, I was thinking we could develop a database based on available literature (Myers etc). A broadly framed list would likely contain lesser than 50 such regions. What do you think?

Endemism note in CateLog profile?
Hey @Jools,
Do you think it makes sense to to add an endemism feature along with the Distribution field or separately in the CateLog profiles? This might give users a real idea of how confined certain species are in terms of distribution. I am referring to regions and not rivers. Using India as an ...

The site has consistently turned up a 503 error for the past week or so, sometimes when loading and every time when I try to login. I tried to open it as I typed this and got the same error message. I use Chrome on Windows 11 in case it helps. Could this be specific to me/my network ...

Tank for Asian Fish Species
Some nonsense shots and videos from a 3 foot tank I set up for a few for Asian fish species early last year. A couple of other loaches and gobies are in there, but show up very rarely. The combination of hyper active loaches and barbs makes for a very busy tank, but there is no shortage of floating ...

Re: Rita rita or R.gogra in a Community Tank?
Just a small update, I have been keeping 2 R.rita with 3 R.chrysea since October '24 in a 72"*20"*30" tank that has various Tor and Neolissochilus as well. I had dumped in a small truckloads worth of driftwood in the tank, and I think that has really helped maintain peace between the catfish so far ...

Re: Horabagrus Brachysoma observation
I have seen Horbagrus and Mystus leucophasis occasionally do this. In my personal experience, all bagrid catfish will choose the PVC that fits most snugly, anything with a large diameter or longer than required is usually ignored. Is the vertical PVC section of a lesser diameter or shorter than the ...

Absolutely true HH, I had a rather unpleasant experience carrying the first R.gogra I kept. Re: Questions about Rita sp.
These are currently exported out of the state of West Bengal in India. I think demand plays a key role in the collection of larger specimens in addition to difficulties in maintaining these fish at the collector's/trader's end until they are shipped. A collector I spoke to was hesitant to collect ...

This is Rita rita , I got a few at this size (2 - 2.5 inches) last year to try and grow them out. They eat anything, grow slow, hide most of the time and are a little aggressive to each other.
