Re: What kind of gravel?
I couldn't wait any more (I've got the tank for two months know and it's waiting to start
) and put fine black gravel in it (also suitable for corydoras).

Re: What kind of gravel?
Wow, that's what I want. But it's not available in the Netherlands. I've searched for weeks know but I can't find this colour sand in Holland or online shops. I think if I ordered it from the UK it's a lot of money (if they send it at all to Holland).

What kind of gravel?
Hi
I've got a new tank but I can't decide what kind of gravel I want. I have a Panaque Maccus, 3 wood shrimps and 10 glowlight tetra's. I know sand is the best option for the Panaque but I don't like the colour of sand. I want black or dark brown for the bottom. Any suggestions witch is best for ...

Re: Is my Panaque Maccus happy?
Last week I've put a lot of floating plants in the tank to reduce the light. That's also better for the glow-light tetra's (fire neons as I called it in English :d ). The Panaque is a little bit less shy without the (huge) fancy goldfish.

Re: Is my Panaque Maccus happy?
Thanks Mats. I think (I'd like to think) that he's more happier in this tank. The shrimps en neons leave him alone. The temperature in this tank is 26,5 degrees (Celsius) instead of the other tank ( 23,5 degrees). There's is also much more wood in this tank and I've made the tank a lot darker. So, I ...

Is my Panaque Maccus happy?
Hi guys,
I've been asking myself this question since I've got him. First he was in the big (also heated) tank with the fancy goldfish until I got an Ancistrus from somebody. The Ancistrus didn't leave him alone en chased him al around the tank. I also started to worry if the Panaque was getting ...

Re: What kind of wood is the best for my Panaque?
Thanks people!
Driftwood is indeed called kienhout in Dutch but I never seem to find this in al the stores in the area (even in the big aquarium stores in The Hague). There aren't to many trees over here and it's also very polluted (many cars and dogs) so I'm a little bit cautious to collect it ...

Thanks Mats
@ Racoll: I did but on this side they are talking about driftwood and I never seen it over here. Now I know there's another Dutch name for it and it's a sort of collective term for wood. Or maybe I'm not searching good enough.

What kind of wood is the best for my Panaque?
I see a lot of different answers to that question on the internet. In the area where I live I can't seem to find anything else than mopani which they don't seem to like (to hard). Driftwood? Never seen it. What is that? Is Mangrove wood better? I want to make the tank like his original habitat. Now ...

Hypostomus Latifrons or Panaque maccus
I found one picture of my pleco, it's also very blurry. He's now about 4 cm. and hardly grew since January. Dark gray with light brown. He has no bristles or anything and has a round body with a small tail. I myself don't see any differences between the pictures of the species witch I have named in ...

Re: New
I only give them vegetables or algae wafers but I noticed that they prefer wood (especially the pleco).

Thanks :-) So the veiltail goldfish are callled fancy goldfish in English? They are doing great together but then again they have got a large tank for four goldfish and one Ancistrus (oh and almost forgot, one apple snail).
However, I can't give the Ancistrus an algae wafer because the goldfish go ...

Hey Mats,
The Panaque maccus looks just like him and it would explain why he's so little. It's also called Clown pleco in Dutch :-).
The other one is indeed most likely an Ancistrus cf_cirrhosus but the albino variant on the pictures are not the same colour because mine is bright yellow/orange and ...

Thanks people,
The last week I have searched you're database for the two fish. One (the orange yellow one) is certainly a Ancistrus but I don't know what kind. I will put the (very bad) photo's on the other forum. I haven't got any pictures from the other one but he was in a tank in the pet store ...

I want to introduce myself. Esther (38) from a medium sized town called Katwijk aan Zee (at the sea :-)) in the Netherlands. It has been a long time since I wrote English so sorry if my spelling is wrong and feel free to correct.
