Re: Synodontis lucipinnis tankmate questions?
Thanks Richard, but I can't seem to find p.typus anywhere local :YMSIGH: I will get some sort of coral sand or other hardening sand for the tank, and aren't cyps a little too active for a 30 inch tank? May paracyps would be better dithers? I'll make the s. lucippinis number larger, maybe 6 or so ...

Re: Found Cory Eggs
I've had my first eggs hatch about a month and a half ago, and I fed them hikari just to get them used to dry food, but be sure to include some sort of microscopic live food, like infoursia found in java moss. Java moss will raise about 20-35 of your fry. I managed to raise 7 of my 10 peppered cory ...

Re: Is it okey to mix corydoras and they will be happy?
I agree, peppered corys are the best. If its possible you could get 1 or 2 more, as I have 4 and they spawn regularly. If you can't, go for a somewhat larger, non-long nosed species that enjoys the cold and not much current. Stay away from c. sterbai, they like to have temperatures in the low to mid ...

Re: Help me decide?
Try some Rineloricaria spp., love current and rocks, or if you can get your hands on one of the rarest loricariidae genus, Ixinandria steinbachi, so rare you almost always have to go to northern Argentina to get some as almost all sold in trade are illegally caught. Great tank!!!

Re: Otocinclus Behavior
My Otocinclus have the same behavior as yours, but I have 5 otos. These fish live in a, as I have read, current rich habitat, but during the other seasons live in a almost current devoid habitat. I'm pretty sure they breed during the current devoid stage, so keep that riccia carpet on for a while ...

Synodontis lucipinnis tankmate questions?
I've already mentioned, long ago, about how I was thinking about doing a West African tank, but have decided on synodontis lucipinnis instead. The dimensions are as follow: 30 inches long, 21 inches tall, and 15 inches wide. I have 2 of the 4 lucipinnis I'll eventually have, and I've had trouble ...

Re: Stop Ancistrus from hiding behind filter (have caves)
What does your other Ancistrus female prefer? I'd add more of her favorite hiding places throughout the tank, and add some shading plants, such as Echinodorus. May I also recommend a bunch of rock work, and if possible, place a background so that the filter is blocked, but the flow still goes out ...

Re: Catfish for lake Malawi cichlids
I would like to ask you what "so far" means. What other cichlids do you plan on adding? S. njassae gets 7-8 inches, so only a couple 4-5 inch cichlids could be added.

Re: What Synodontis
I almost forgot that this is a catfish website, thanks naturalart! I'm sticking to lucippinus, so I'll stick to a tangynikian tank, and I've got well water, its hard water, so no way I'm keeping negriventris in there.

Re: What Synodontis
Oh well, they just caught my attention, plus they are endemic to a small stream. I've got another idea for the tank.
How about: 2 Neolamprologus multisfasciatus, 6 Neolamprologus brichardi, and 4 Synodontis lucipinnis with Java fern, Anubias, Vallisnersia, and some Cryptocoroyne and possibly ...

Re: Lophiobagrus brevispinis tankmates?
A trio of tanganyikan killifish would be perfect and provide lots of movement, but are a bit big (4-6 in, 10-15 cm), but there super pretty, just look them up!

Re: Live black worms
I'm pretty sure they'll work, but I'm sort of new to here but most fish are conditioned with live food, so why not. A temperature drop or increase could also help, just like with corys. Synodontis are really hard to breed, so keep a cup handy to get a cup of their hormones because you may never get ...

Re: What Synodontis
Anyone heard of synodontis acanthoperca? The current should be strong enough to keep the congos or one-lined tetras busy, and I'm sticking with all african fish, so unless there are better cichlids (beside lamporogus) than kribs, I'm sticking with them.

What Synodontis
Lately I have started thinking about redoing my 36 gallon bowfront tank, but can't decide on a synodontis.
I was thinking : 2 Pelvicachormis pulcher (Kribensis), 6 Phenacogrammus interruptus (Congo tetras), and either 4-5 Synodontis Nigriventris (Upside-down catfish) or 1 Synodontis Eupterus ...
