Interesting indeed - Baensch have cenia and schmidti listed as different fish with different sizes.

Thanks for the advice. Was aware of the aeration requirements but was concerned for the heat issues.

gagatta schmidti

I have ten lovely young gagatta schmidti catfish. However they have recently got whitespot and I'm wondering how to treat it. I am aware that they are a relatively cool water fish and hence I'm reluctant to increase the tank temperature. And I'm also aware that a lot of catfish don't do too well ...

cichlids for synos?

This has probably been discussed already so apologies!

Which are the best Tanganyikan (spelling!) cichlids for Syno. Multipuntatis to do the cuckoo method of breeding with?

Cheers!

So if malachite green is ok for s. eupterus, will it be ok for multipuntatis and petricola? I have schoutendeni as well. Apologies if this sounds like an obvious question but I want to get it right.

treatment of ich?

I've been told that there is a treatment for scaleless catfish for ich. Does anyone know if this is true and can it be used for syno. multipunctatis and petricola? I had to treat my multipunctatis by having their tank very hot back in December and although it worked the idea of a treatment appeals ...

The tail is wrong. I couldn't get a better picture unfortunately. The tail on mine is straight between the top of the fin and the bottom - looks almost square. The trouble is he's quite active and wouldn't sit still for his portrait!

Thanks for the advice, but already noted before I got them. Am running a pH of 8.2 in that particular tank. We live in a hard water area so this is relatively easy to maintain.

Thanks Wood. One of them is looking better already and is much livelier. If we get through this I may well ask you about breeding them in the future.

Wish I had bred them! I love plecos and catfish and I finally found somewhere that had some synodontis in stock. Got a friend to take a look at them and they looked really healthy so I got them. I have read about ich - it's a parasite isn't it? I have a couple of platies in that tank - couldn't ...

Synodontis multipunctatis - help!

Please can someone advise me. I finally got 5 baby multipunctatis last week. All seemed well until I noticed them covered in tiny white spots yesterday. They seem well otherwise and are eating and very lively. I've failed to find a aquarist shop open today for advice.

Thanks, Walrus

Which plecos to get?

I have a spare empty 30 x 12 x 15 inch tank. I'd like to keep a pleco in it. Can anyone recommend any species that would thrive in this size tank? Are there any really small species of pleco? We currently have a sailfin and a bullnose living happily in other much larger tanks and would like to add ...

Bullnose pleco?

Am tempted by a new pleco in my local aquatics shop. It's labelled as a bullnose pleco. I am having trouble finding any info about it. It is a mid-brown colour with a thick set jaw. Anyone any ideas?
