Can Synodontis also get protein blisters like Corydoras sometimes do?

I managed to increase my group to 16! Although they are a bit pricey, I'm seeing if I can add 4 more.
Only 6 are close to adult size....the rest are barely 3 cm long! I guess this breeding project will take a bit of time to commence

I got 3 more but one sadly passed away. The remaining 3 are doing quite well...when they feed they really have that shark vibe!
But when they are not feeding they usually chill near the surface, close to the water current...I thought they'd be more bottom oriented or swim in the middle column.

I think I'll need a bit more time for them to reach spawning age...so I plan on growing them out first. I'll post details of my planned breeding setup too ...

Have you ever checked this guy out, and now I know there's 2 different species here but they're both Synodontis, so this might be able to give you a ballpark starting point, and this guy gets pretty involved something I don't know that I would want to do but he does ...

They're also egg scatterers. Most catfishes that are bred in captivity are not. A substrate of large round gravel might help. I would also guess the fry will be tiny and so some thought on their first foods is needed. A "dirty" tank might help.

It also depends on what else you're set up to breed ...

are there any smallish (2"~3") fish that enjoy ramshorn snails as a snack?

I know clown loaches and puffers, as well as cichlids in general will eat them but they grow too big/are too aggressive/have compatibility issues.

When I first started out fish keeping I had to return a lone male Ancistrus to the store I purchased it from due to it being aggressive towards my other fish, as far as I remember it was the only catfish in the tank and was beating up some kribensis.

Maybe it was because the tank was small - 64 ...

Mine is only aggressive towards his own species have kept him with many different corydoras


I have not seen my Ancistrus to be mean to other non-pleco fish, but they do fight with other plecos for territory.

Then I see someone selling 50 for half the price per cory (Mind you, they were not even expensive to start with)
