Re: L134 or Not?
Hey Eric, Yes it is completely covered in odontodes. Another important detail I forgot to include is that this fish is F1 whatever it is. I thought it looked like Hypancistrus to me, it lives with all of my zebra's and it eats what they eat (will not take veg AT ALL). very strange! Maybe someone els...

L134 or Not?
I have had this little pleco for about 6 months, it was sold to me as an L134. When I was at Catcon this past weekend I purchased a group of 3" L134 and I am starting to have my doubts on my original fish. I know this could be patterning due to age but I just want to clarify. Another thing to n...

Re: What woodcats are being bred by pc members?
Yes, they don't look exactly like the ones in the Cat-eLog, but they usually have the darker colors of the intermedia this one was stressed in the photo box so it was pale. I was actually able to get 3 Males and 3 Females.

Re: What woodcats are being bred by pc members?
Hi Martin, below is a photo of my fish. I want to clarify something about galaxias. There is almost no true T. galaxias in the hobby because there are not many fish exports out of Venezuela. There is quite a lot of confusion with the intermedia complex of fishes in general. I personally believe that...

Since my last post I have bred D. altae, and S. moijiri! Both of these are very exciting... I have officially bred all 3 described Duringlanis and I am the first person in the US to spawn moijiri. The altae are developing nicely and are over 3 weeks old. The Spinipterus spawned today the eggs need m...

What woodcats are being bred by pc members?
Hello, I want this to be an informational thread with people sharing their breeding experiences with members of the family Auchenipteridae. I can't wait to know what others are breeding and or keeping. :d Personally i have had great success with woodcats. I currently keep 12+ species but only 4 are ...

Fishguy1978's are like mine at the sub-adult stage, characinkid yours are adults. This variation is normal in age, and collection location. As the ones from Suriname vs. Peru tend to look a little different. Someone will have to look into these differences more in the future. I have slowly started r...

Re: Does anyone know if the Tatia galaxias for sale on Aquatic Arts is actually Tatia galaxias or if it’s Tatia intermed
I keep Tatia intermedia and true galaxias from the locale, Aquatic arts has intermedia. And galaxias has never been publicly available in the US. I would say galaxias gets to 3" and intermedia gets to 4" or so I keep a breeding group of 6 Tatia intermedia in a 20_Long and they do great. Ot...

Tatia gyrina group of 6 (2M, 4F) 3. Tatia strigata New group 6-7 individuals sexes unknown in qt 4. Tatia aff. sim...

Interesting! I can't tell you exactly for sure and I am no expert, but the fish sure dosen't look like its siblings. Only time will tell. Fingers crossed that this is a unique fish and that you can work with the strain.

Re: Leucistic or white Fishers Woodcat
Color forms of wood-cats are rare I might have seen 6 images in my life never fishers. May I ask how old these fry are because sometimes I have Tatia intermedia in a batch that stays clear/white until it is a month old while its siblings gain color in a week. By the way albino specimens in other spe...

Hey, The first photo looks like a male to me, the second is in the wrong position to sex, but, the rest all a bit harder, they appear to just be old enough the rest in the photos look male but this is not for sure. Personally I have 4 females and 2 male gyrina. These are fun, they don't know when to...

Honestly that is quite surprising, all of the woodcats that I have kept, T. strigata, T. reticulata, D. perugie, D. altae T. gyrina T. simplex A. batrachus and even T. intermedia etc. have all been female heavy. Especially intermedia which out of all six of mine there is only 1 male which was very h...

Personally I have always associated simplex with a white-gray fish with small trout-like speckles. This fish is white-brown with square-like dots.
Let me throw a question right back at you.
What makes you think it is not concolor?

About 3 weeks ago I ordered a group of 6 "Balroglanis schultzi" from an online fish-store. I had a qt tank prepared for them and a 30g permanent tank ready to go. The only concerning thing for me was the fact that they were supposedly 1" long. When I heard this it frighted me that a g...

Tatia intermidia fry
After a year-long learning curb, I finally have gotten my intermedia to fry stage. The eggs were almost hatched when I left to go on a three-day trip, I assumed they would die as usual. So I was very surprised when I came home today to 40+ fry! The rest of the egg-mass turned into a white jelly like...

Ideas wanted for inducing spawning of Erethistes jerdoni?
Hello All, I recently attended Catfish Cataclysm and decided to purchase some Erethistes jerdoni. I currently have 13 of these fish and am interested in spawning them. They are currently in a 6 gallon cube aquarium. About 1/3 of the tank is planted, 1/3 rock caves, and the remaining 1/3 is super fin...

Hey everybody, Yesterday I was in Tennessee and I stopped by a high quality lfs there that had "midnight catfish". I instantly thought Auchenipterichthys coracoideus. Although when I looked into the tank this was not the case. They had a total of 5 wood catfish in that tank, one was a real...

Update! I moved the eggs into a 5 gallon tank last night I do not have an egg tumbler or a fry basket. They are on a small air stone. I would say they are fertilized I can now see the fry developing inside. I hope they continue breeding that would be a good problem to have. I will give you updates. ...

My woodcats finally spawned!!!
Hello all, It has been a few months since I have posted because I have been very busy with my aquariums. Though today I woke up to my female Tatia intermedia circling around the tank. The only other time this has occurred was when she layed eggs once before. After thoroughly scanning the tank I foun...
