Post by Guy_P »

This fish was sold as Corydoras melanistius, but I don´t think so. The fish is wildcought and I think they come from Colombia. Can anybody help with ID

I'm not any expert on Corydoras but I can give you my guess, C. delphax.

The pic is not the best to see it, but, if the dorsal spine is cream-white, it will probably be Corydoras schwartzi... n.o. this species if from river Purus...

I believe this little cory cat to be

As C delphax has a more snoutier head & C melanistius does not have caudal fin markings.

(For those who don't know a synonym of Corydoras brevirostris is Corydoras melanistius brevirostris)

Medaka has it right. Hard to even see how it could be confused with C. delphax or C. schwartzi.

:D Yes, thats the one, the reason that I didn´t find it in first place was that my dealer told me that the fish came from Colombia.
