I got five Panaque (or Panaquolus, Peckoltia) LDA01
They're all nicely striped, fat and hairy; in other words, I'm at a loss how to spot who is what.
should there be a clue on the shape of the papil on the underside, or some hairs should probably be different than other hairs?
The bigger ones all have these "Panaque-moustaches" on the gill covers too.
Any clues greatly appreciated!

Just got all of them out of the riverine tank, into one of the breeding tanks, and I'm still not sure about the amount of "hairyness".
There seems to be a slight difference between some of them.
I'll try to make close-up pics, but they won't like it; being crammed into a glas cube and getting their pic taken from the bottom up.....

I've got some questions for you Pleco-enthousiasts:
just re-decorated the holding tank wich is for now containg the 5 LDA01's.
Got a good look at them (they protested by buzzing, while I handheld them close to the frontwindow, but still submerged), and perhaps it's not an all-male group....
-are females darker or blander in color?
-are males brighter and lighter in color?
the group contains 2 big ones, 2 moderately sized ones and a smaller one.
-one of the big ones is dark, less hairy (about as "hairy" as a common bristlenose) and has a fairly big papil.
-the other big one has "colorless hairs" that are longer than the "hairs" of the darker one. It's lighter in color, less fat, and it's papil is smaller. Does this count?
-is there a size-difference in papils between de genders? (like for example Claroteids, in wich the females have papil shaped protuberances, wich the males lack)
-the two moderately sized ones have those "glass-like hairs".
-the small one is, like the darker big one, less virulently colored and as "hairy" as a common bristlenose. It isn't fat at all, though, but it's smaller. Maybe youth?
How long can you held such a fish safely?
This forum and the cat-e-log contain many pic of several "pleco's" lifted out of the water, but.... is it possible to lift them out of the water, take picson a black backdrop and put them back again, or will it seriously harm the fish?

I found males to be darker and females rather light coloured.
Females are not hairy or if you prefer would be like a female ancistrus
Female slightly smaller in size.
Regarding helding a Loricariidae out of the waterm you can do so for a minute or a couple of them without harming your fish in a way that he would later die.
