Hoplosternum sp. tumour?

Post by spikeyface »

hello all,

i have a pair of Hoplosternum catfish. i noticed a couple of weeks ago that one had a growth just underneath the mouthparts. i kept and ye on it and it was growing slowly, that said he/she was always active and feefing as normal. this morning ive noticed that the growth has ruptured and there is some pale reddish muck hanging out. again, the fish is happily swimming about and feeding.

i havent a clue what to do with this now so im hoping for advice.

Hi there. Strange your question didn't get any responses.
It is indeed a tumor and afaik there's nothing to be done about it.
I would get the fish out and put it to sleep (you know what I mean).
But as long as it's no problem to your fish and yourself, you might as well let it be for the rest of its life. After it has died, remove as quickly as possible from the tank.
