hardy cories

Post by pudgy »

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and just wanted to ask a question about cories. What are some really hardy cories that will get along with bristlenoses and angelfish? I had 6 false juliis that died and my c. paleatus are indestructable. It seems like the really 'beautiful' cories are sensitive, while the not really attractive ones live forever. I don't mind, because I think the plain old paleatus are hard workers and are great little guys. But I want to add some new cories, but don't know which ones to buy. Also, has anyone ever bought fish from Drs. Foster and Smith?

The common cory varieties like:
(like you mention)

(false julii)
are all known to be hardy.

One common problem tho' is that they are kept at quite high temperatures compared to their natural environment. Many corys live in cooler water, around 25'C/77'F, whilst many fishkeepers keep temperatures around 80-85'F. At this temperature, the corys will be stressed. There are a few that tolerate higher temperatures, one of them being .

However, without knowing more details of your tank, it's impossible to say what caused your "false julii" to die... It could be "poor quality fish", or that there's something wrong with the way your tank is kept, or something completely different.

Since I don't live in the right continent, I've never bought fish from the doctors.
