cat-e-log querie

Post by medaka »

Querie is regarding images, and Glyptothorax sp.

cat-e-log shows G cavia (Silurus) as: - Image

Among others, Fish base shows this as G cavia (although we do know that Fish base i.d.pics are a little wayward on a few species): -

and we find in our good friends (Dinyar & Rusty) off site; gallery, this photo of G cavia: -

Looking at the pics from Silurus, and Dinyar & Rusty, they look very similar albeit that Silurus's seems to lack pigment. I am inclined to believe that they are more acurate than fish base.
However, as G cavia is reported to be wide spread, what I would like to be considered as being also G cavia, is Glyptothorax sp 1 (cat-e-log) although the body pigment is more pronounced: -

As I can not find anywhere a pdf or other Doc. giving the scientific description for G cavia, would welcome any opinions. (esp; Dinyar/Rusty & Silurus)

‘Is it common?’
