deformed hemisynodontis

Post by Richard B »

Does anyone know if hemisynodontis are being bred commercially in numbers? I saw a tankful the other day (labelled S.Zambezensis)& most of them had a deformity of the head/mouthparts to a degree. The worst of these had approx 25% loss of overall head size & looked awful with a very blunt face (barbels still evident & the fish looked in good health otherwise)

It reminded me a bit of the situation we have with the parrot c*****d, where we have the dumpy orange manmade version readily available. Iam presuming of course that naturally so much deformity would not occur...
