Panaque sp. (L169) help please?

Post by spikeyface »

evening all,

i have seen what look to be an L169 in a local fish shop. so, thinking it is a beauty i had a look at the profile here... http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=158

the one in the store has the distinct yellow-brown striped markings and is about 3" in length. looking at the profile though the adult ones look much muddier brown in colour.

do they lose their banded markings with age or as they mature? seeing as the one in the store has the markings at adult size im wondering if it is just a variation in colouring and the one i *might* buy will stay the same patterning.

this pic isnt too good -taken with a cameraphone:

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Definently not L169. Looks more like a Peckoltia. Though more photos would help.
