:o striped raphael catfish fight over food?

Post by kodama »

I have these two catfish, mao and yui.
:o Today was the day of the week where I don't feed them, and I noticed yui (the smaller talking catfish) was nipping(?/it looked like nipping) at mao (little bigger humbug catfish).
Well mao did have a pretty full stomache compared to yui,
but I didn't understand why yui was being so bossy,
so I put him in a breeder net.

Yui is about 2 inches long; his white stripes are a bit pink and he is normally the less shy one. On the otherhand, Mao refuese to eat until I go away! Mao is about 2 inches and a bit longer (about 1/6 of an inch or so) and a little wider than Yui.

:d were they just fighting for food? Or are they up to somethign else? Aren't talking catfish nonagressive? (I heard they don't fight, but just scare each other away)

I keep the two in a 10g (40liter) tank with 2 black tetras and a 3 dot gourami,
and it has been set up for a little over a month :D Any comments would be awesome.

Hi,
I have a striped raphael with a clown pleco and when its feeding time my raphael nips the pelvic and pectoral fins of my pleco in hiis search of food.He isn't agressive,he is only very enthousiastical and he swallows anything which is in his way.I think that your raphael isn't agreessive,i think that he thinks that the food is hidden under the other raphael,as mine thinks.I hope that i helped you a litle.
